As part of an ongoing project, we are in the process of collecting information about the history of Metis in Southern Alberta. We know that births in the area date back to the early 1800's, and many families signed a petition in 1878 for a piece of reserve land, which was denied.
We hope to connect with anyone who has family stories or information about how the Metis lived here in the past.
We understand that many knowledge keepers and storytellers are aging, and may not be able to connect with us in Lethbridge or virtually. If you need accommodations, or would like us to come to you, please inquire with the office.
We can set up one-on-one sessions with interviewers, or small group sessions with your friends or family members. Honoraria will be provided.
We hope to compile a beautiful story that we can share with our community about our connection to the region.
If you would like to share any confidential information, without speaking to a person, please use the form below to let us know more.
